A Special Message from Commander Eric Spinner

     As I assume the office of Commander of our Post, I am humbled by the confidence you have placed in my ability to lead us into the next year.  During my fifteen years as a Legionnaire, my involvement has been at many levels. Having first joined Elmont Post 1033, I held most officer positions, and have held most of the same positions with the Legion Riders.  I've served with Nassau Legion as Education & Scholarship Chair and as Chaplain for most of the last thirteen years, and as Post 144 Chaplain for the last three years.  I volunteer regularly to assist with other functions and committees as well, and I bring my experience to Post 144 where I hope to not only restore full activity, but also to increase our membership.

     I look forward to working with my staff who bring many years of expertise to our Post, and offer special thanks to our new Immediate Past Commander, James Randle, whom I will consult with on a regular basis.  James continues as Post Historian and as a Trustee.

     Moving ahead will require the efforts of many members of our Post to be coordinated and unified.  I welcome input and suggestions from all, and hope that we will see a year of growth and prosperity for our Post.

                                                                                          Eric

Special Request from your Webmaster, Eric Spinner-

Getting our page up to speed requires input from many sources, and I ask you to dig into your archives and send me items that would be suitable for our website.  If you have anything we can use, please let me know.

     Since our charter in 1928, our American Legion Post has been welcoming VETERANS from all branches of our Armed Forces. Today, we continue to welcome all military personnel serving our country.  Joining our Post enables you to continue serving God, Country and Community.  Our mission is to implement the goals, aspirations, dreams, peace and blessings for our country, friends and families embodied in our Preamble to our American Legion Constitution:

For God and Country we associate ourselves together for the following purposes:
To uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America;
To maintain law and order;
To foster and perpetuate a one hundred percent Americanism;
To preserve the memories and incidents of our associations in all wars;
To inculcate a sense of individual obligation to the community, state and nation;
To combat the autocracy of both the classes and the masses;
To make right the master of might;
To promote peace and goodwill on earth;
To safeguard and transmit to posterity the principles of justice, freedom and democracy;
To consecrate and sanctify our comradeship by our devotion to mutual helpfulness.
